YOU SHOULD HAVE GONE TO SPECSAVERS!

Well Friday I did, they told me that what I’ve perceived as perfect vision all my life isn’t in fact what it seems, they told me those blurred shapes and colours in the distance I’ve spent my entire life looking at in curiosity are in fact objects, and finally, they told me I have to wear glasses. I understand lots of people wear glasses and they’re not a big deal, but when you’ve spent 19 years looking at the world through what you understood to be crystal clear pin sharp vision and then you’re suddenly handed a pair of glasses and everything is different, the world looks different, things are clearer, it’s well, pretty major. Sorry that this blog lacks any humour, wit or interest in comparison to my previous posts, I just wanted to share this little life changing discovery.

PS: Yesterday we had a leaving party for my eldest brother Michael, tomorrow he leaves for Australia with no plan of returning, ever. And I couldn’t be more jealous! Where we live is like a real life version of [Tv show] Shameless; people work dead end jobs they hate just to provide the basics, they spend their free time drinking themselves into oblivion to escape the harsh reality of their shit lives, a place where the law is unheard of, the people have no respect and violence and drug abuse are a regular daily occurrence. Generally just a place of no hope or ambition. So to see someone leave in pursuit of following their dreams and making a new life far away from this shit hole is quite inspiring. Good luck Brother.
