The downward spiral of a teenage hero

This blog is about Ian Watkins, front man of rock band Lostprophets and one of the true inspirations of the “emo” world with his awesome music and even awesomer haircuts. Back in the day when I hit that awkward age of 14, I decided to part with the mainstream clique that my fellow classmates all conformed too and ventured out into the unknown and discovered rock music and gained a whole new outlook on life. After spending my teenage years up until this point listening to all the overproduced mainstream shit along with everyone else, to then move onto the likes of Lostprophets was slightly exciting. The screams, the breakdowns, the concerts, the passion! I was young and impressionable, and Ian quickly became my idol. As the years passed I become less of a creepy little clone with a big fringe and fingerless gloves and well, grew up. Obviously Ian in my eyes is still a L-E-G-E-N-D, that’s why when a recent picture leaked on perezhilton of him engaging in sexual activity with another gentleman I was shocked! You expect this from the likes of Paris Hilton and them other Hollywood bitches desperate for fame and attention, not Ian!! When I found out he was opening the 3OH!3 show I was attending with his solo project I thought I’d take along a copy of the picture in question and find out where shit went so wrong

As predicted from Ians usual dry sense of humour and sarcastic nature he seen the funny side, and decorated the picture, turning the penis into a smiley face whilst adding decorate patterns around it. When asked directly about it, he was quick to deflect, often by replying with a dirty innuendo about ones mother or prostitution. As the night grew darker and the LOLz become more frequent we opted to move to the comfort of a wet mattress on the side of a street and a small kerb to carry on chatting. He still failed to reveal the true story about how this intimate footage from several years ago managed to make its way onto one of the world’s most visited websites and then claimed he leaked it himself. I find this hard to believe, he doesn’t seem to be the kind that craves press attention and his music career is nowhere near the stage where you need naked pictures to sell records, if anything the idea of gaining any recognition from this does not seem at all plausible. After chatting to him for just a few minutes he launched into a huge rant against X-Factor and his utter dislike for shows like this where people go on solely for fame, so to then claim to have leaked the picture himself would be nothing more than contradicting his own words. Maybe the jokes are his method of dealing with the realization and heartbreak that a former lover has set out to deliberately hurt and embarrass him? Either way he clearly doesn’t seem to upset by the situation and still stands proud. Then I shut up about the whole thing and realized Ian Fucking Watkins was sat next to me!! Conversation flowed, good times were being had, and several jokes about a sex tape number 2 were suggested. The overall conclusion of the evening was that Ian is indeed worthy of the L-E-G-E-N-D status he’s had in my mind for the past 5 years. He’s a stand up guy, handles criticism well and doesn’t take himself to seriously, which you know, being in the public eye with sex tapes and what not all over the internet is a pretty good trait to have.
